Blood Transfusion

The blood transfusion department of Xuanwu Hospital of Capital Medical University, is responsible for clinical blood use, blood group determination, and blood group matching of rare blood types for more than 1,000 hospital beds. The annual volume of clinical blood use is nearly 20,000 units. The department has 9 members, 88% of whom have bachelor degree or above. Among all staff, 3 are senior professional titles and 4 are medium-level professional titles.

Our blood transfusion department has received the honorable title of advanced unit of clinical blood management in Beijing; it has achieved excellent results in the past Beijing blood transfusion quality control appraisals; its autotransfusion practice has reached advanced level in Beijing; it has completed 4 hospital-level or bureau-level research projects and 2 clinical trials. Furthermore, its blood transfusion information management system has preceded domestic hospitals of the same level. The system has played an essential role in helping the hospital pass a national HIMSS7 level appraisal.
